Quthing – The Minister of Communications Science and Technology, Honourable Khotso Letsatsi has presented ten computers to Qhalasi and Siloe High Schools in Mohale’s Hoek.
Speaking at the occasion Honourable Letsatsi appealed to students to use the computers effectively as teaching, and avoid their misuse such as using social networks to insult people as this could put them and their schools into trouble.
He said the computers have been donated by Vodacom Lesotho as a way of giving back to the community, saying government highly appreciates this initiative, and hopes the company would extend more assistance to Basotho.
Speaking at the same occasion, the Member of Parliament for Taung Constituency Honourable Phallang Monare thanked Vodacom for the computers and urged Principals of the two schools to ensure they are used for intended purposes, and encouraged students to use the computers to improve their technological skills.
Vodacom Lesotho Executive Head Cooperate Affairs, Mr. Ts’epo Ntaopane said the computers have been donated to give back to Basotho for their support to the company since it started 20 years ago, adding that more initiatives will continue to be carried out in the country.
Siloe High School Principal Mrs. ‘Malebohang Mojau said the computers will introduce the students to information technology which was difficult to access as parents could not afford to pay computer fees at private institutions that render such services to the schools.
Also present at the occasion were the District Administrator, Education Officers, Board members and teachers from both schools and students.
