Maseru – Central Bank of Lesotho CBL will launch a five Maloti commemorative coin on Thursday in honour of the country’s 50th Independence Jubilee in Maseru.
National ceremonies Coordinator Mr. Khahliso Soro said CBL Governor, Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane will launch the money and on the same day, there will also be an Independence Lecture where invited guests will speak about the journey the country has travelled until it gained independence.
He added that there will be political, social and economic lectures on the same day by invited guests, as well as a series of post-Independence activities until next year when Lesotho will be celebrating the 51st independence, to include a music festival and a soccer tournament.
Some of the activities which the country has achieved in celebrating the 50th Golden Jubilee are officially opening the Basotho Cultural Village and a Museum as well as unveiling of the Moshoeshoe Statue at Thaba-Bosiu which is Basotho’s fortress.
Lesotho gained her independence from Britain on October fourth, 1966.
