Maseru – An oversight committee has been formed to monitor implementation of the Lesotho e-government infrastructure project on a weekly basis.
The project Coordinator Mr. Khiba Masiu said this following a visit of the Mid Term Review Mission from the African Development Bank in the country, whose purpose was among others, to undertake together with the executing Agency and other stakeholders an in-depth analysis of the status of the fulfilment of funding for the project.
Other objectives were to check progress of the implementation of the different components of the project, identify challenges associated with its implementation and in consultation with the government, propose necessary measures that need to be undertaken to improve performance of the project.
Mr. Masiu added that the mission reported slow progress on the project hence the decision to form a monitoring committee to try and speed up the implementation, saying it was delayed by one and half years due to unforeseen circumstances, but it will be completed as scheduled.
The project is co-funded by government and the African Development Bank with over 12 Million Maloti and has four main components, namely strengthening of core government network infrastructure, strengthening of data centres, improvement of the government E-portal and skills development.
