Mohale’s Hoek – Mohale’s Hoek community joined the globe in commemorating World AIDS Day through various activities that include a procession and a 50 minutes prayer session.
The procession began at Qalakheng and ended at Pitso house where other activities were conducted under the theme ‘Hands up for HIV prevention.’
Speaking during the prayer session, the Deacon Reverend ‘Mamolibeli Rankopane of the Anglican Church of Lesotho urged the public to raise their hands for Jesus for HIV to fall, saying it is imperative that all should be fully committed to attain zero infection in the country and that can be achieved by abiding by the Word of God. Mrs. ‘Mabataung Rangoajane said it is time for all people to know their HIV status so that they could get treatment on time, saying such action will also enable them to protect themselves and other people and live longer through healthy life styles.
Community Clinic Linkage Officer from Lesotho Network of AIDS Services Organization Mr. Mahlomola Tlabuse said the organisation is establishing Community Anti-Retroviral Treatment groups for people on treatment to support each other and openly share their challenges such as discrimination and are helped to positively deal with them. \
People were screened for various diseases that include hypertension and diabetes, as part of the annual commemoration of World AIDS Day, which aims to sensitise the public about the disease and remember people who died from it. Lena
