Chechela in Custody for Murder

Maseru – Private Mojalefa Chechela of Sekamaneng awaits trial in court following his arrest for the alleged murder of a 31 year-old police officer.

According to the Police report stated by Deputy Public Relations Officer Senior Inspector Lerato Motseki, the suspect who is a member of the Lesotho Defence Force allegedly murdered the deceased who worked as a police officer at Liphiring Police Station on October 23rd last year.

The report reveals the duo had a quarrel at a shebeen around midnight on that day during which the suspect is said to have left the place, and returned later on and met the deceased as he had gone out of the shebeen and gun fire was heard.

It added that the deceased police officer was found lying in a pool of blood and was hurried to hospital where he died.

In another report a 30 year-old man is said to be in custody for allegedly fatally assaulting a 45-year-old man of Ha Teboho, Phamong after what reportedly culminated from a fight of October 21st last year.

Senior Inspector Motseki revealed that the convict allegedly assaulted the deceased with a stick on October 21st and waited for him on the following day by the roadside in the evening and hit him with a stone on the head and then fled to Sterkspruit, South Africa.

The report further reveals that the deceased was hurried to hospital where he later died and the convict was arrested by Teele Police on January eighth and will appear in court when investigations are completed.
