Year in Jail for Dagga

Thaba-Tseka – Forty one year old Komoreng Motsepa of Ha Motsepa in Thaba-Tseka has been sentenced to 12 months in jail or to pay 1000 Maloti after he was found guilty of planting dagga without a licence.

According to the charge sheet, on February third during a Police camp, they saw dagga plants at Motsepa’s place and he did not give satisfactory proof that he had a licence for the 33 plants of dagga and he pleaded guilty.

The court decided that the dagga plants will be destroyed.

Meanwhile, 23 year old Maqhasa Letsekha of Tlokoeng appeared before Thaba-Tseka Magistrate Court for contravening the Sexual Offences Act Number 3 of 2003 on January 14th near Tlokoeng, Mahesheleng.

Maqhasha has been granted 500 Maloti bail which he paid and has been remanded to appear before the court on February 16th and to also not interfere with crown witnesses.

The charge sheet indicates that he accused wrongfully and unlawfully raped a 20-year-old woman.
