Exams on at NUL

Maseru – Following a month long unrest at the National University of Lesotho NUL on fee issues, students are writing the second semester and final examinations.

Secretary General of the Students Representative Council Mr. Thato Ponya said they have contacted the local business community and financial institutions such to help and cover the short-fall, since if negotiations between government and the university collapse, students will have to top-up their part of the shortage of this sum.

According to Mr. Ponya the institution is continuing with negotiations with the government, and this time they are negotiating in good faith which brings a light of hope that there will be a positive outcome.

NUL learners embarked on a month-long fees protest following an announcement from the government’s biggest sponsor, National Manpower Development Secretariat that there is a short-fall of about 18 Million Maloti out of which each learner has to top-up the balance to get the fee fully paid up.
