Maseru – A date for the burial of Police Constable Mokalekale Khetheng has been set for August 26 following completion of a post-mortem.
The deceased’s father Mr. Thabo Khetheng, confirmed that his son’s body will be transported to his homestead in Salang, Mokhotlong, on the burial day’s eve, adding that the family is content with the way the police have handled the case so far.
However, he said he is surprised that it took so long for police to find his son’s body, whom he said was not even supposed to be dead, because if he had made a mistake, he should have been punished through courts of law.
Meanwhile, the police through their Spokesperson Inspector Mpiti Mopeli, also confirmed that the post-mortem has been done and its details will be attached as part of evidence in the case, so they cannot be revealed to the media, saying everything regarding the corpse has been finalised hence their confidence to release it to the family.
Inspector Mopeli said the fifth and latest suspect in the case who was arrested on Sunday evening, a Senior Assistant Commissioner has been released and this move is ideal to have him assist the police with investigations.
He also noted that there is a possibility of some of the accused turning state witnesses, although none of them have stricken a deal with the police so far. Lena
