Maseru – About 653 households from different villages within the Koro-Koro Constituency in Maseru will be supplied with electricity when the rural electrification project has been completed.
This was said by the Minister of Energy and Meteorology, Honourable Mokoto Hloaele at the official launch of the rural electrification project at Koro-Koro, saying villages that will benefit include Lekhalong, Majoana-Mabeli, Mokunutlung, Ha Setenane, Ha Phohleli and Makoaeleng.
He said government is committed to ensure that all households have electricity and the project will start in villages whose members had embarked on electricity schemes, and it will be implemented gradually until it covers all households throughout the country.
Speaking at the event, the Member of Parliament for Koro-Koro Constituency Honourable Motebang Koma said the electricity will help towards prevention of crimes at night, saying there is also lack of roads that connect villages, clinics and water.
The government has invested over Seven Million Maloti for the project, and a similar ceremony has been performed at Ha Sofonea in the Thaba Bosiu Constituency.
