Maseru – The Minister of Social Development Honourable Matebatso Doti strongly urged members of the System Integrity Committee in the Ministry to combat corruption for the benefit of vulnerable people.
She was officially opening of a two-day Induction staged by Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences DCEO in Maseru today which aims to equip the committee with knowledge and skills for effective execution of its mandate, as well as to interrogate the concept of corruption.
Honourable Doti said the Ministry serves vulnerable people who depend on financial support from the government and hopes the induction will remind the participants of their responsibilities as well as the negative impacts of corruption.
On behalf of the DCEO Director General, Mr. Thabiso Thibeli said it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to combat corruption, as it negatively affects Lesotho’s economy as well as service delivery, saying there is need for the participants to be exemplary and assist the Minister to promote transparency in public resources.
The System Integrity Committee has been established to among others, oversee operations of the Ministry.
