Maseru – Students of Lesotho School of Medicine have been urged to focus on their studies during their stay in Zambia and Zimbabwe where they have been relocated to.
This was said by the Minister of Education and Training Dr. Mahali Phamotse at a farewell ceremony for the students in Maseru, saying they are expected to return home and serve Basotho after completing their studies.
Dr. Phamotse advised them to economise where necessary so they can survive while away from home, and promised that Lesotho School of Medicine will soon be resuscitated to afford Basotho students an opportunity to study at home. Speaking at the occasion the Minister of Health Dr. ‘Molotsi Monyamane also appealed to the students to focus and increase the number of medical doctors in the country, urging them to avoid participating in politics in countries they will be studying at.
Also speaking at the ceremony the Minister of Development Planning Honourable Mokoto Hloaele promised the students that they will get allowances on time, while Dean of the Lesotho School of Medicine Dr. ‘Musi Mokete commended government for ensuring that the students relocate to other countries, as Lesotho needs to produce its own doctors at home.
One of the students thanked the government for making their dream come true by relocating them to other institutions.
